The Keynote: Love vs Fear

Every feeling a leader has is one of two things: love or fear. Connection or protection. Not as a metaphor — as the actual mechanism underneath every decision they make about a person, a hire, a price, a risk. The talk opens on a runway. At forty-five, Anita is learning to fly, and her instructor takes his hands off the controls and says four words: it’s your airplane now. What happens next in the cockpit is what happens in a leadership team every day — the moment protection takes the controls and calls itself judgement. From there the room gets language for it — the ability to name, in the moment, which of the two is driving. They leave holding one question, and it is the question they carry into Monday.

“Right now, am I moving toward connection, or toward protection?”

Formats

Format Length Best For
Signature keynote 45-90 minutes Conferences, annual conventions, association events.
Extended keynote 115 minutes Evening events and full-room experiences with movement built in.
Half-day workshop 3-4 hours Executive teams and leadership offsites.
Full-day intensives 6-7 hours Leadership groups going into the framework properly.
Virtual keynote 45-90 minutes Distributed teams and international audiences, delivered live.

What the Room Does

IT MOVES — a movement break roughly every twenty minutes. Bodies quit before minds do, and a room that has stood up four times argues at the end instead of applauding and forgetting.
IT WRITES — every person leaves with one written action, not a feeling. This is the part event organisers hear about in the following week.
IT TALKS BACK — the format is built for a room that answers, and Anita works those answers live.

The Framework

Distinction-Based Leadership holds that leaders do not get stuck on facts. They get stuck on two things they have not separated — a boundary and a wall, trust and agreement, confidence and arrogance, acceptance and resignation, faith and certainty. Name the pair and the decision makes itself. Leave it unnamed and the best strategy in the room changes nothing. The Distinctionary, Volume I, gathers fifty of them. Volumes II and III follow.

Where She Works

Territories — Canada, the United States, England, Australia and New Zealand. In person and virtual.
Language — English, and bilingual rooms.
Audiences — conferences and annual conventions, entrepreneur organisations, leadership offsites, executive teams, franchise and network leadership, university executive-education programs.

See Her Work Before You Book Her

On 18 November 2026, Anita takes Love vs. Fear to a ticketed stage in Montreal — a full room of paying strangers, a 115-minute run sheet, professionally filmed and streamed live worldwide. Programmers are given the livestream at no cost, with a seven-day replay so the hour works in any time zone, and edited footage follows in December. A show reel shows a speaker at their best; an unedited evening shows what they do with a real room in front of them. Next Montreal event: 10 March 2027.
